The £100,000 project will “give a boost” to the development of the Sutton Bridge marina
Lincolnshire County Council is seeking to improve pedestrian access to the floating pontoons installed in the River Nene.
The community art project is also part of the Sutton Bridge Site Design Scheme, which will be reviewed by the council.
The County Environmental and Economic Oversight Committee will review the new scheme at a special meeting.
There are plans to improve the pedestrian route from the piers to the village with new steps, a ramp and removed curbs.
County Councilman Jack Tyrrell hopes this will help the Sutton Bridge get funding to improve infrastructure.
He said: “I think the wharf needs an elevator so that pedestrians can get to the city and use the shops. <…>This is just the beginning to get people to use the marina and the bank. It’s a push to get things up and running again.”
The marina, with capacity for 20 boats, was officially opened in 2017. It was recently extended by 35m with a £679,000 contribution to the Sail The Wash project from the Coastal Communities Trust.
